Rebel Red is one of the hottest bulls to hit the longhorn industry in
several years. His progeny are making a significant impact with their horn
development, conformation, and disposition. Rebel Red was the 1999 Longest
Horned Bull TLBAA Horn Showcase for two consecutive years. His sire,
Tabasco, is 15/16 Butler and his Dam is a blend of Texas Ranger, WR, and
Butler. From the moment he was born, Charlene Semkin knew that he was going
to be an impressive bull. She just didn't know that he would grow so much
horn. "From the day he was born, he would come up to me, suck on my fingers,
and beg to be scratched and loved. I knew right away that I didn't want to
part with him," says Charlene. To this day, he is the center of attention as
ranch visitors walk through her pastures. He still desires to be scratched
and loved.
His calves show the most early horn growth of any bull we have ever
used. They are all colors including black and black & whites. No trip to
Semkin Longhorns is complete without seeing this phenomenal bull. Rebel Red
is co-owned with Doreen Hickman of Hickman Longhorns.

Sonic Boom x Super Brownie

SHOCKWAVE is a bull we raised, used for many
years, sold and now have leased him back by popular demand. His
genetics are important to our breeding program. Shockwave adds
color, body, and a unique, cork screw twist type horns to his
calves. He measures close to 70” ttt even with several inches
off both tips. His sire, Sonic Boom, was a black & white Jet
Jockey son and his dam, Super Brownie, was a Measles Super
Ranger daughter out of an all Butler female. She possessed a
triple cork screw horn and has passed this on thru her son.
Shockwave’s disposition is such that you can go out in the
pasture and sit on him as he lays among his “harem” peacefully
enjoying life. He passes this gentle nature on to his calves
also. We are expecting 2007 calves from Shockwave and will be
using him again this year. You can pick his calves out by their
fancy speckled and spotted colors and wonderful straight top
lines.

Super Up

SUPER UP, a son of Superman is
our youngest herd sire that we used last year and we are expecting his
first calves in 2007. His dam Cowgirl Up is a gruella Cowboy Man
daughter with almost 70” of horn and was one of our embryo donor cows
due to the quality of her calves and her much desired gruella color,
which she has passed on to her son Super Up. This bull has almost 60”
ttt and almost 80”of total horn before his 3rd birthday. He
is very correct, with so much length and height that we feel he will be
another 2,000 lb. at maturity herd sire and will surpass his sire in
horn also. If he also passes on the gruella color, this will just be
another plus for us. Watch for his calves in 2007.

Superman
|
|
Superman is one of the leading longhorn bulls in producing outstanding
progeny. He is the sire of many great sons and daughters and is used widely
in many AI programs. Superman's most famous son is Super Bowl who's horns
measured 73 1/8" tip-to-tip at age 7. There are also some outstanding
progeny in Australia with horns of 53” @ 17 mo. & 55” @ 19 mo.! Superman
has it all: horn, color, conformation, and a beautiful disposition. He also
now has a new owner, Charles Castro, who is leaving Superman under Semkin
Longhorn’s management and he will remain at the ranch breeding Mr. Castro’s
new females as well as Semkins’ and other boarders’ females. Superman was
#1 of the Top16 All-Age “Total Horn Score” as reported in the Sept./Oct.
2000 Texas Longhorn Journal. He was the only one of the 16 who did not have
any Butler blood to create that horn. He is Texas Ranger/WR blend. His
calves are all speckled & spotted, painted and all colors, including black &
black & white if bred to a black / black & white female. He is 1,960 lbs.

same time.
Shamrock Unbreakable is son of VJ Tommie, aka Unlimited, will do
it. He has produced black heifers and we just know he will for us too. His dam, Smooth Move, goes
back to Jet Jockey, Zhivago, and Senator. With this blend of name brand
pedigree, you need to look at the females we have for sale bred to
Unbreakable to add to you herd or start with the best if you are new.
